They include specific room-specific cleaning and mopping settings, a time planner mopping and vacuuming strength selections, and integrations with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa for smart home integration. The extensive features set means the S7 Max Ultra can do almost anything a standard robot vacuum can do, but at a less than half the price.

The S7 Max Ultra vacuuming is remarkable. It did a fantastic job of removing pet fur, dirt, and other particles, both on hard floors and carpets. Its automatic dust bin-emptying feature performed flawlessly during our tests, which was comforting. It also boasts 5100 Pa HyperForce power, which is significantly higher than the 2,500Pa power of the S6MaxV and S7.

The S7 Max Ultra mopping performance was also good, but not the most efficient. It employed a microfiber mop that can absorb liquids and use sonic vibrating technology to scrub floors as high as 3,000 revolutions per minutes. This was slightly quicker than the X1 Omni circular pads which spin at 180 rotations per minute. The S7 Max Ultra's ReactiveAI 2.0 obstacle recognition system was very good. In our tests it didn't snag on any objects and it steered clear of power cords, long curtains and other obstacles that could be in the way 100% of the time.

2. Narwal Freo

It's a chore that is dreaded by many, yet it is essential to keep your home spotless. It's also a messy, and often stinky task, which can be difficult to complete since it requires handling dirty water and dustbins, and ensuring that debris or hair doesn't get stuck in the traps or brushes. Robots that vacuum and mop have become extremely popular. A lot of these machines require you to empty the dustbin, and wash and rinsing mop pads manually. This can be a hassle, particularly if you have to do this several times in between cleaning sessions. We're glad to see that a lot of companies are introducing self-emptying robotics that make the whole process much easier and less stressful.

The Narwal Freo, the newest addition to the robotic cleaners category is packed with a range of enhancements in software, sensors and hardware designed to keep it at top of its game. The trademarked DirtSense Technology and the Smart-Swing feature both work together to better detect the surface that is being cleaned, and adjust the cleaning mode according to the floor type. The Freo also registers dirtiness levels and automatically cleans its mops once they are full, which enhances the efficiency of subsequent cleaning sessions by not returning to soiled areas.

Another great improvement that the Freo has over its predecessor is the ability to directly pilot it via an LCD touchscreen on its base station, best self-emptying robot Vacuum in addition to using the app for smartphones. This is a first in robot vacuum and mop and is certainly a welcome change if you'd rather skip the hassle of using the app. You can even alter the route in the middle of the session by using the LCD screen controls.

The Narwal Freo is also quiet when in suction mode, with a noise level of only 63dB. However, maintaining the Freo isn't entirely hands-free since you'll need to regularly clean various components like the main brush roll and side brushes.

The Ecovacs Deebot T9+ is available at The Good Guys (for $1279) and is among the most advanced self-emptying vacuum robotic mop and vacuum combos. It is capable of mapping the area of your home, vacuuming and mopping, while detecting and avoid obstacles. It can even spray an air freshener.

The app creates a digital map of your house that can be used to clean. It's easy to set up. You can then make use of the app to choose certain rooms or specific areas to clean. You can also select the time you want it to start cleaning so that your floors get cleaned while you are asleep or away.

The T9+ also comes with an upgraded 3000Pa vacuum motor that delivers powerful suction for a more efficient cleaning.

4. iRobot Combo j7+

The iRobot Combo j7+ is a fantastic robot for cleaning floors. It's a vacuum and mop in one. It is extremely well-equipped for navigation and obstacle avoidance. This lets it map your house and clean areas without smacking into furniture or walls. The app lets you set up zones to indicate areas that require to be cleaned as well as areas that you don't want it to clean. You can also set up boundaries for no-mop and no-sweep zones.

The Combo J7+ comes with small dust bins that you have to empty manually. I also discovered that the Combo j7+'s mop pads be less efficient than other brands and that's a shame since it's a fantastic combination robot.
